Casement Windows
Casement Windows, Measured and Fitted Properly
The most versatile double glazing style available, in uPVC, aluminium or colour. Supplied and installed by a FENSA registered local team serving South Bucks and East Berkshire since 2003.
The most popular window in the UK
A well-fitted casement window will outlast almost everything else you do to your home
Casement windows hinge at the side and open outward. That simplicity is the point. It is why they have been the standard choice for UK homes for well over a century, and why, when you look at a street of well-maintained properties in Beaconsfield or Gerrards Cross, casements are almost always what you are looking at. They seal tightly when closed, perform well thermally, and are straightforward to clean from the inside. They suit virtually every property type, every budget, and every architectural period.
Most homeowners start thinking about window replacement when something becomes noticeable — a draught they cannot trace, condensation forming between the panes, frames that have become difficult to open, or heating bills that seem higher than they should be. Sometimes it is simply that the windows look tired and are letting the rest of the house down. These are all legitimate reasons to get an assessment, and none of them require you to commit to anything. We visit your home, give you an honest view of what is there, and tell you whether replacement makes sense. If your existing double glazing still has life in it, we will say so.
Why it matters
What new casement windows actually do for your home
Warmth
A meaningful reduction in heat loss
Modern A-rated double glazing is dramatically more thermally efficient than anything fitted before 2010. If your current windows are more than 15 years old, the difference in how your rooms feel — and what you spend heating them — will be noticeable from the first winter. This is not a marginal improvement. It is the kind of change that makes a room comfortable to sit in on a cold evening without the heating running constantly.
Security
Properly secured from the outset
Every casement we install includes multi-point locking as standard. Frames are steel-reinforced and all hardware meets current British security ratings. A correctly fitted modern casement is substantially harder to force than a tired old frame with a single-point catch — which is what most pre-2005 windows in this area still rely on.
Quiet
Less of the outside world coming in
Standard double glazing reduces external noise considerably compared with single glazing or failed sealed units. If your property faces a main road, is close to a railway line, or sits under an approach path, we can specify acoustic glass for those specific elevations. It makes a genuine difference to how restful a front-facing room feels.
Value
An improvement that holds its worth
Energy-efficient replacement windows improve a property's EPC rating, which buyers and their valuers increasingly factor into what a home is worth. Across the area Alpha covers — properties in South Bucks and East Berkshire — well-chosen, properly installed windows add visible value and remove a common negotiating point from any future sale.

uPVC, Aluminium or Coloured which is right for your home?
The casement style works the same way across all three. What changes is the material, the finish, and what that means for your home in practical terms. We will give you a clear recommendation during the site visit based on your property, your priorities, and your budget.
Most Popular
uPVC Casement Windows
Modern uPVC casements look nothing like the bulky white frames of the early 2000s. Today's profiles are slimmer, cleaner, and available in a wide range of colours and woodgrain finishes. uPVC does not rot, swell, or need repainting. It performs well thermally, handles the British climate without complaint, and keeps maintenance to a minimum. For most homes across South Bucks and East Berkshire, uPVC delivers everything needed at a price that makes the decision straightforward.

Premium Choice
Aluminium Casement Windows
Aluminium frames are significantly slimmer than uPVC, which means more glass and more natural light coming into the room. The material is stronger, longer lasting, and carries a refined finish that suits both contemporary extensions and well-maintained period properties. If the quality of light in a room matters to you, or if your property sits at the premium end of the market, aluminium is worth the additional investment.

Distinctive Finish
Coloured Casement Windows
The right colour changes how a property reads from the street. Anthracite Grey on a renovated Victorian terrace in Windsor. Chartwell Green on a detached Edwardian home in Beaconsfield. Slate Blue on a modern extension in Ascot. Coloured casements are available in both uPVC and aluminium, and the finishes hold their colour far longer than painted timber ever did, without any of the upkeep.

Your windows, your way
Every window we fit is built to your specification
Once you have chosen your material, there are a handful of decisions that affect how your windows look and how they work day to day. We go through all of these with you during the site visit, with samples and examples to hand. Nothing needs to be decided in advance — here is a straightforward overview of what you can personalise.
01
Colour
The frame colour has the biggest single impact on how your home looks from the outside. White remains the most popular choice because it suits almost every property type and every architectural period. Beyond white, the colours we fit most often across South Bucks and East Berkshire are Anthracite Grey, Black, Chartwell Green, Cream, and Slate Blue. Dual-colour frames — a different tone on the inside to the outside — give you a warmer, less clinical interior while keeping the exterior looking sharp. We bring a full colour swatch to every visit so you can see the options in natural light, against your actual property.
Practical note
Colour is available across both uPVC and aluminium casements. The palette is extensive — if you have a specific colour or finish in mind, ask us and we will source it.
02
Glass
All casements we install come with A-rated double glazing as standard. For windows in specific positions around the home, there are glass options that make a genuine practical difference. Acoustic glass reduces external noise on road-facing elevations — relevant for properties near the A355, A40, or within earshot of a railway line. Privacy glass for bathrooms and side returns keeps natural light flowing in while blocking the view from outside. Decorative glazing in leaded, Georgian bar, or frosted designs suits period properties where the character of the original window matters.
Practical note
We advise on the right glass specification for each individual opening during the site visit, rather than applying one blanket choice across the whole house.
03
Hardware
Handles and hinges are what you interact with every single day, so they are worth choosing carefully. Standard finishes are white, chrome, brushed steel, gold, and black. If you have opted for a coloured frame, a matching or contrasting hardware finish can significantly sharpen the overall result. Restrictors, multi-point locks, and hinge configurations are all specified for security and practical use — we go through the right setup for every opening in your home rather than applying a blanket specification.
Practical note
All hardware on our casements meets current British security standards as a minimum, not as an optional upgrade.
04
How they open
Most casements are side-hung and open outward, which works well in the vast majority of situations. Where an outward swing is not practical — above a walkway, in a tight side return, or where an obstruction would cause a problem — a top-hung configuration opens from the top instead. Larger openings often work best as a combination: fixed panes for light and sightlines, with a smaller opening casement alongside for ventilation. The right configuration for each opening is something we work out together during the visit.
Practical note
You do not need to arrive with any of these decisions made. Working through them with you is exactly what the visit is for.
Reviews
What your neighbours are saying
Real reviews from homeowners across South Bucks and East Berkshire. Every one verified through Google.
I had a new window fitted, Joe and Bob behaved in a professional manner at all times and the work was done to a high standard. I would have no hesitation in using Alpha Windows again. Joe and Bob came again today and fitted a new door on my garage. A very professional finish.
Stuart Jones
Gerrards Cross
Having used Alpha Windows in our school in Gerrards Cross, we found their experience and ability to work around the schedule very helpful. The managers and owner have been great with communication and very personable. Installers resolved issues quickly and the end result has helped with heat retainment and aesthetics. Great experience.

Gerrards Cross
They replaced all the windows in our 3-bed house. Very good service and competitive prices. Good communication and very happy with the windows.
Kiran Arhestey
Windsor
Alpha Windows are brilliant. Great customer service, great windows, competitively priced and superbly fitted. Their fitter is so good and diligent that he managed to fit the replacement windows with barely any disruption to the plaster. I don't even need to repaint around the aperture. Highly recommend.
Nathan Turner
Ascot
New lantern installed, great job. Victoria in the office, Joe overseeing everything and Jack installing made the whole process a pleasure. Would recommend to anyone.

Common questions
What homeowners ask us about casement windows
-
The most reliable signs are condensation or fogging between the panes, which means the sealed unit has failed and cannot be repaired; noticeable draughts when the window is fully closed; frames that have warped, cracked, or become difficult to open and close; and glass that feels cold to the touch on a dry day, which indicates significant heat loss. If your double glazing is more than 20 years old it is worth having it assessed regardless — the efficiency gap between older units and modern A-rated glazing is considerable. If you are unsure, get in touch and we will visit and give you a straight answer.
-
Replacing everything at once is more cost-effective and delivers the full thermal and security improvement immediately. It also ensures a consistent appearance across the whole property, which matters for both kerb appeal and resale. That said, a phased approach is entirely reasonable if budget is the constraint — most homeowners prioritise the windows causing the most problems, or those most visible from the street, and work through the rest over time. We are happy to work either way and will not push you towards a larger project than makes sense for your situation.
-
Our fitters arrive at the agreed time and work through each opening one at a time, so your home is never left exposed or unsecured during the process. Furniture and flooring near the windows are protected before work begins, and the team tidies as they go. Old frames and glass are removed and taken away — you do not need to arrange disposal. For a full-house replacement on a typical South Bucks property, most jobs are completed within one to two days. Before we leave, every window is tested — opens, closes, and locks correctly — and we walk you through the work to make sure you are happy.
-
In most cases, yes. Casement windows can usually be replaced like-for-like in conservation areas without requiring planning permission, particularly when the new frames closely match the original in profile and colour. Where specific requirements apply — such as maintaining timber-effect profiles, particular colour finishes, or glazing bar configurations — we know what the local authorities across Windsor, Beaconsfield, and Gerrards Cross typically expect and will advise you correctly before any work is agreed. If consent is needed for anything, we explain clearly what that involves so there are no surprises.
-
A single window typically takes two to three hours. A full house — usually eight to fourteen windows depending on the size of the property — is completed within one to two days. We will give you a clear timeframe in your written quote before any work begins.
-
uPVC is more affordable, low maintenance, and thermally efficient — the right answer for most homes. Aluminium has significantly slimmer frames, which means more glass and more light, and carries a more refined finish. For premium properties or contemporary extensions, aluminium is often worth the additional investment. We will give you our honest view on which suits your property when we visit.
-
If your frames are discoloured, draughty, or more than 20 years old, replacement is almost always better value. Modern casements are dramatically more thermally efficient than early 2000s double glazing, and the difference in heating costs accumulates quickly. We will give you our honest assessment during the visit. If your windows still have usable life in them, we will tell you.
-
Yes. We bring samples to every home visit — frame colours, woodgrain foils, glass options, and hardware finishes. Most people find it much easier to make decisions when they can see the options against their actual property in natural light rather than from a brochure.
-
For most window and door replacements, no. Like-for-like replacements fall under permitted development rights and require no planning permission. If your property is in a conservation area — parts of Windsor and Beaconsfield Old Town, for example — or if it's listed, there may be restrictions on colour, style, or material. We know the local areas well and will flag anything relevant during your visit.
-
Yes. FENSA registration means every installation we complete is certified to meet current building regulations, and the work is registered with your local authority automatically. This is important if you ever sell your home — solicitors will ask for it. You don't need to do anything; we handle the registration on your behalf.
-
Our installations come with a 10-year guarantee as standard, covering both frames and sealed glazing units. Combined with FENSA registration and our full public liability insurance, you're protected throughout the installation and long after completion.
-
Yes. We remove all old frames and glass and dispose of them responsibly. We also leave your home clean and tidy at the end of every job — it's part of how we work, not an optional extra.
-
We don't consider a job complete until you're satisfied. If something isn't right, tell us and we'll fix it. Our reputation in South Bucks has been built over 20 years — we have every reason to make sure you're happy.
