Surveys & quotations

All quotations are provided following a free, no-obligation home survey. We don't quote over the phone or online — every property is different and needs to be properly measured and assessed. Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. A quotation is not a binding contract: a contract is only formed once you accept the quote in writing and pay a deposit.

Your cancellation rights

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of signing a contract, without giving any reason. To cancel, contact us in writing at office@alpha-windows.com or by post to our registered address. You will receive a full refund of any deposit paid within 14 days of cancellation.

If you expressly ask us to begin work within the 14-day cooling-off period and you then cancel, you may be charged proportionally for work or materials already committed. We will always make this clear before starting any early work.

Deposits & payment

We typically require a deposit on acceptance of your quote, with the balance due on completion of the installation. The exact payment schedule will be set out in your written quotation. We accept BACS bank transfer and cheque.

We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.

Your responsibilities

To allow us to carry out your installation safely and to a high standard, we ask that you:

• Ensure clear and safe access to all areas where work is taking place

• Remove or protect any furniture, valuables, or fragile items near the windows or doors being replaced

• Have a responsible adult present at the property throughout the installation

• Inform us of any relevant structural concerns, listed building status, or conservation area restrictions before work begins

Our work & FENSA registration

All window and door installations are carried out by or under the direct supervision of FENSA-registered operatives, and certified to meet current building regulations under the Building Act 1984.

We register every eligible installation with FENSA on your behalf. You'll receive your FENSA certificate automatically — you don't need to do anything. This certificate is a legal requirement when you come to sell your home and your solicitor requests evidence of building regulation compliance.

Guarantee

Our installations are covered by a 10-year guarantee against defects in materials and workmanship. This is provided in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which requires that all services are carried out with reasonable care and skill. Manufacturer product warranties apply separately and vary by product — full details will be provided with your written quotation.

The guarantee does not cover: fair wear and tear; damage caused by misuse, accident, or third parties; failure to maintain products in accordance with manufacturer guidance; or structural issues that pre-date our installation.

Damage & liability

We carry full public liability insurance. We take care to protect your property throughout every installation and will leave all work areas clean and tidy on completion.

We are not liable for pre-existing structural issues that become apparent during installation — for example, rotten lintels, damp reveals, or subsidence. If we discover anything of concern during the work, we will always stop and inform you before proceeding.

Complaints

We don't consider a job complete until you're satisfied. If something isn't right, please contact us as soon as possible — by phone on 01753 663663 or by email at office@alpha-windows.com. We aim to acknowledge all complaints within two working days and resolve them within 14 days.
